WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Chinese-American Billi (Awkwafina) is devastated to hear that her beloved grandmother “Nai Nai” (Shuzhen) has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. However, when she learns that her family has decided to not tell Nai Nai about her illness, and that they are staging a wedding in China as an excuse to go and see her, Billi defies her parents’ wishes for her to stay home in New York and flies out to visit Nai Nai, where she learns more about her family’s odd decision to keep the matriarch in the dark…
