WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

At the prestigious and predominantly white Winchester University, student Sam White (Thompson) causes a stir on campus with her sharp-tongued radio show entitled “Dear White People” which criticises the racist assumptions and transgressions of her fellow white peers. From there, tensions rise amongst the numerous black students concerning their identities and aspirations that must fall in line with an overly-PC world, leading to a violent confrontation when the white faculty choose a controversial theme for their annual party…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Dear White People is a sharp, witty and timely social satire concerning the struggle between black and white authority, making it an effective debut from award-winning writer-director Justin Simien.
