WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Erin Gilbert (Wiig), a respected lecturer at Columbia University, is discovered to have previously written a book with former associate Abby Yates (McCarthy) that poses the belief that ghosts are real, and as a result she is laughed out of academia. However, when supernatural entities begin to invade Manhattan, Erin reunites with Abby and, along with nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann (McKinnon) and subway worker Patty Tolan (Jones), form a team known as the Ghostbusters that dedicates itself to fighting and capturing ghosts, right in time to save the world from a powerful human-possessing demon known as Rowan (Casey)…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Okay, now we realise that this new version of Ghostbusters has gotten a LOT of hate online – it currently has the most-disliked trailer of all time on YouTube, amongst other backlash – but we implore you, even if you’re not sold on the horrendous marketing (which we put far more on distributor Sony than anyone else), to at least give it a chance; it could, against all current odds, turn out to be a bit of fun.
