WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In the 1960s, young songwriter Brian Wilson (Dano) finds an overwhelming amount of success with his work with the Beach Boys. However, a panic attack soon forces him to retire from concert touring, especially when his psychedelic experiences give rise to scattered internal voices. Years later, Wilson – now a middle-aged man (Cusack) – is a broken and confused man under the constant protection of therapist Dr. Eugene Landy (Giamatti). When Wilson meets saleswoman Melinda Ledbetter (Banks), she becomes determined to save him from Landy’s manipulation…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

A biopic of Brian Wilson, the leader of the popular Sixties band The Beach Boys, has been in development for years, and the final product seems to make it clear that all the extra time has been more than worthwhile.
