WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In 1845 Ireland, fisherman Colmán Sharkey (Ó Héalai) is forced to abandon his family when he is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, and settles on a remote island where he lives a solitary life as the Great Famine claims his family and community as victims. After years of solitude, an unexpected friendship with a young girl named Kitty (Ní Chuinn) might just save his life…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Ireland’s (ultimately unsuccessful) entry for the most recent International Feature Film Oscar category is a breath-taking historical drama that’s sure to hit you hard in the tender emotional area.
