WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In 1920s New York, Irene (Thompson) and Clare (Negga) are mixed-race childhood friends who reunite as middle-class adults. While Irene identifies as African-American and is married to black doctor Brian (Holland), Clare has been able to “pass” as a white woman, and has wed a wealthy but prejudiced man named John (Skarsgård). As the women become heavily involved in each other’s lives and insecurities, they find themselves headed towards a devastating conclusion…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?
