Sarah Obeng (Mensah), an intelligent Ghanian-American doctoral student, leaves her Ivy League PhD to follow her married boyfriend Lyle (Leon) to Ohio. However, when her mother suddenly dies, and is left her small but respected Christian bookstore in the Bronx, Sarah grapples with her cultural heritage as well as her own path…
