WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

On a space shuttle on its way to Mars, one of the astronauts is discovered to be pregnant, and dies in childbirth once they reach the planet. Sixteen years later, her son Gardner (Butterfield) has grown up entirely on the surface of Mars, with only the fourteen remaining astronauts for him to confide in. As he becomes curious about his home planet, and about his biological father, he begins an online friendship with a street smart teenage girl named Tulsa (Robertson), and when he finally does get a chance to go to Earth he sets out to find her as well as his father. However, when the other astronauts discover that Gardner is unable to handle Earth’s atmosphere, it becomes a race against time for Gardner to discover his true roots before it’s too late…
