WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In 1913 Budapest, young Irisz Leiter (Jakab) arrives in the Hungarian capital with the hopes of working as a milliner in a legendary hat store, which was owned by her late parents, but is turned away by the store’s new owner Oszkár Brill (Ivanov). Refusing to leave the city, Irisz soon begins to investigate a mysterious man by the name of Kálmán Leiter, on a quest which leads her down Budapest’s dark streets and towards a lost past…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

László Nemes, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-winning Son of Saul, follows up his bleak wartime drama with a drama that’s slightly less heavy but still rather intimate and gorgeous.
