WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Vera Britton (Vikander), an intelligent and determined young woman, overcomes the expected gender role in her family and applies for a place at Oxford University. In addition, she strikes up a romance with Roland (Harrington), a close friend of her brother Edward (Egerton) and her childhood friend Victor (Morgan). However, as the First World War breaks out and all three men are shipped to the front lines, Vera abandons her studies and volunteers as a nurse where she witnesses the horrors and heartbreak of the war…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Based on the memoir by the real-life Vera Britton, Testament of Youth is a tragic and hard-hitting tribute to those who gave their lives in the First World War and also a fascinating account of the woman who endured so much personal suffering during it all.
