WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Parvana (Chaudry) is an 11-year-old girl living with her family under the Taliban rule in Kabul, Afghanistan, where no woman may go outside without a male chaperone. When her father (Badshah) is wrongfully imprisoned, she and her mother (Sadiq), sister (Latif) and baby brother are left to fend for themselves, which seems hopeless until Parvana decides to cut her hair and pose as a boy in order to go outside and earn money for her family…

The latest film from Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, who were also behind the Oscar-nominated beauties The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, is another stunning work of art with a compelling and thought-provoking story that everyone should see.
