WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In 1938, wealthy widow Edith Pretty (Mulligan) hires Basil Brown (Fiennes), an amateur archaeologist, to excavate the burial mounds on her Suffolk estate. However, they end up unearthing an extraordinary, historical discovery that leaves the world astounded, and with the Second World War fast approaching, suddenly the past becomes synonymous with the future…
