WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

As a wave of fascism spreads throughout Germany, Georg (Rogowski) flees to Marseille, where he assumes the identity of the deceased writer whose transit papers he is carrying. Things become complicated when he meets and falls in love with Marie (Beer), a beautiful but mysterious woman searching desperately for her missing husband – who happens to be the man whose identity Georg has stolen…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Anna Segher’s 1942 novel, set in Nazi Germany, is interestingly brought to the modern day for this new adaptation as a means to represent its shockingly timeless themes of growing fascism and refugees.
