WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

For years, author P.L. Travers (Thompson) has resisted the endless pursuits of Walt Disney (Hanks) to make her cherished Mary Poppins character and books, themselves based on her own experiences in Australia with her father (Farrell) into a film. But in 1961, when Travers finds herself on the verge of bankruptcy, she reluctantly travels to Hollywood to oversee the writing phase of what would ultimately become one of Disney’s most popular films…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Saving Mr. Banks offers an exclusive – if dramatized – peek behind the curtain of the making of Disney’s Mary Poppins, and brings to light the previously unheard-of inspirations for the “practically perfect in every way” nanny character that Travers created in the first place.
