WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

After being left mostly paralyzed following a car accident, alcoholic slacker John Callahan (Phoenix) reluctantly attends a 12-step meeting led by charismatic sponsor Donnie (Hill), and also reconnects with Annu (Mara), a therapist that he met at the hospital. With their encouragement, John discovers a talent for drawing and uses that to create a series of crude and politically incorrect cartoons which soon draws the attention of a much wider audience…
