WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

The year is 1971 (well, duh), and in the violent streets of Belfast a young and disorientated British soldier, Gary Cook (O’Connell), is accidentally abandoned by his unit during a riot. Forced to spend the night alone in a dangerous environment where it’s impossible to tell friend from foe, the new recruit must find a way to safety…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

With an intriguing setting and time period to stage its suspenseful action, ’71 looks as if it will be a finely-made piece of art as well as yet another breakthrough performance by Jack O’Connell (after Starred Up and the forthcoming Oscar contender Unbroken).
