WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Maria Enders (Binoche), an actress at the peak of her international career, is asked to partake in a new stage production of the play that made her famous twenty years ago. In ‘Maloja Snake’, Maria originally played a young girl who drives her older flame to suicide, and the revival would see her take the part of the older woman while rising starlet Jo-Ann Ellis (Moretz) would play Maria’s original role. Upon fleeing with her assistant Valentine (Stewart) to the remote Alps region of Sils Maria, Maria ponders this decision which requires her to look in the mirror and see an unsettling reflection of herself…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

A powerful character study with three highly accomplished actresses (yes, Internet, even Kristen Stewart), Clouds of Sils Maria is a fascinating portrayal of fame and success that would go nicely as a double-feature next to Birdman.
