In 1970s Manchester, young Steven Morrissey (Lowden) is frustrated with his working-class background and dead-end job at the local tax office, which he feels is preventing him from fully indulging in his ultimate passion for music. He finds solace in the city’s underground gig scene, where he meets aspiring artist Linder Sterling (Findlay) who encourages him to turn his dreams of superstardom into reality…
