WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Host Dave Skylark (Franco) and producer Aaron Rapoport (Rogen) together run the popular celebrity tabloid talk show “Skylark Tonight”, which is celebrating its 1000th episode. When they receive news that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un (Park) is a fan of the show and wishes to appear on it, Rapoport – desperate to gain some journalist credibility – convinces Skylark to book him in as a guest. As they prepare to travel to North Korea for the interview, the duo are approached by the CIA who also want them to assassinate Kim Jong-Un while they’re out there…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE SO EXCITED?

This is a significant release – after being at the centre of a damaging cyber-attack on distributor Sony Pictures, who then temporarily pulled the film from US release before deciding to repackage it as a VOD title just before Christmas, The Interview is going to stand as proof that the film industry won’t be bogged down by bullying threats against free speech in an artistic medium, and will do whatever it can to allow its own opinion to be expressed in any way they want.
