In a sunny village in northern Turkey, five sisters are caught innocently playing with some boys by their conservative guardians, Uncle Erol (Pekcan) and their grandmother (Koldaş). In response, the house is turned into a prison and all five girls are forbidden from stepping outside on their own, being forced to prepare for arranged marriages. All the while, the girls refuse to let their guardians’ monstrous ways break their desire for freedom and independence…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, Mustang is a powerful and timely film about tradition and the overwhelming desire to not be confounded to it, no matter what the cost.
