WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Film producer Max Barber (De Niro) finds himself in debt to mob boss Reggie Fontaine (Freeman) after his latest movie flops. Desperate to save his own skin, Max decides to produce a dangerous new movie designed to kill the lead actor, so that he can claim the insurance money and pay off Reggie. However, when he casts washed-up veteran actor Duke Montana (Jones) in the lead, Max finds himself dealing with a surprisingly capable performer who’s a lot harder to kill than he had thought, and as he keeps putting his actor in increasingly life-threatening situations, he might just well be making the movie of his career…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Some of Hollywood’s most respected actors gather for a satirical dark comedy with a slightly meta edge, from director George Gallo who’s best known for his scripts to films like Midnight Run (also with Robert De Niro).
