WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In the mid-19th century, somewhere along the American East Coast frontier, married couple Abigail (Waterston) and Dyer (Affleck) live an isolated existence, overcome with grief following a close tragedy. Soon, they become neighbours with another couple, Tallie (Kirby) and Finney (Abbott), and the two women soon bond over their shared dissatisfaction with their respective marriages. Their relationship soon grows into something more passionate, forcing both couples to re-evaluate what brings them true happiness…
