WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Mei (Chiang) is a 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl living in Toronto with her strict mother Ming (Oh), and enjoys hanging out with her equally excitable friends at school. However, Mei suddenly finds that she transforms into a giant red panda whenever she gets too excited – which, given that she’s an adolescent girl, is practically always – due to a longstanding family curse, and must now find a way to live with her unusual new condition…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Pixar’s newest film is a cute coming-of-age story with a giant furry twist, which basically asks the question: what if the Hulk was a 13-year-old girl who frequently gets excited over boy bands?
