WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Once-successful rock manager Richie Lanz (Murray) takes his last remaining client, Ronnie (Deschanel) to Afghanistan to perform for the US Army. However, when she soon bolts from the gig, leaving Richie stranded and alone in Kabul without his passport, he discovers the extraordinary talents of a young Afghan girl named Salima (Lubany) and decides to manage her through the Afghan version of American Idol, which also gives him a new outlook on life in the process…

Whoever doesn’t like seeing Bill Murray be Bill Murray in any situation – in this instance in the middle of Afghanistan – probably won’t find much to enjoy here, but everyone else just might.
