WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In 1952 Scotland, young mother Lydia (Grainger) is evicted from her home along with her young son Charlie (Selkirk). They are soon taken in by the village doctor Jean Markham (Paquin), and soon both women develop strong feelings for one another and begin a passionate affair. However, their love is at risk by the small-mindedness of their small community…
