WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

After a plague wipes out almost all children in America, the ones that are left acquire strange and special abilities, and are thus held in government internment camps. Sixteen-year-old Ruby (Stenberg), one of the more powerful children, escapes her camp along with a few other kids who are learning to control their own powers, and begin to form a rebellion against the people that tortured their generation…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

If the X-Men comics were published instead as a YA novel, odds are it will look something like The Darkest Minds, which combines superheroics with a teen rebellion story that should resonate with youngsters quite easily.
