WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Many months after her daughter Angela (Newton) is brutally raped and murdered, Mildred Hayes (McDormand) rents out three abandoned billboards just outside her small Missouri town, and on them displays a message calling out the local police department’s apparent failure to further process the case, specifically the Sherriff Bill Willoughby (Harrelson), who’s slowly dying of cancer, and the incompetent and prejudiced Officer Jason Dixon (Rockwell), who along with Mildred suffer the consequences of her stirring the pot in this manner…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Martin McDonagh’s latest black comedy is a serious contender for awards, thanks to its delightfully dark and insightful script and its marvellous performances all across the board, including Frances McDormand and a never-better Sam Rockwell.
