WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Una Spencer (Mara) is a 27-year-old woman who unexpectedly arrives at the workplace of Ray (Mendelsohn), an older gentleman who used to be Una’s next-door neighbour, and who also engaged in an abusive sexual relationship with her when she was thirteen. She confronts him about unresolved questions about their affair, while he struggles to keep his new identity secure and to also find out her ulterior motives…

Rooney Mara and Ben Mendelsohn are fantastic in this big-screen version of playwright David Harrower’s play Blackbird, which covers heavy topical issues such as child sexual abuse with poignant drama and stunning commentary.
