WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Alice (Biel), a small-town waitress, is accidentally shot in the head with a nail gun. Because her lack of health insurance prevents her from having the nail removed from her skull, she develops increased mood swings and hypersexual behaviour as a result of brain damage. Determined to campaign for those with bizarre injuries like hers, Alice heads to Washington DC where she meets and falls for unseasoned Congressman Howard Birdwell (Gyllenhaal)…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Though the behind-the-scenes drama of this film is infinitely more fascinating than the actual film – it eventually got so bad that Oscar-nominated director David O. Russell ended up using the pseudonym “Stephen Greene” for his directorial credit – surely something decent can emerge from the rubble, right?
