WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Former movie star Riggan Thompson (Keaton), best known for playing the iconic superhero Birdman in a series of blockbuster films, attempts to reinvent himself on Broadway in an ambitious production of the classic story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love”. However, as the show nears the start of its run, Riggan must deal with a series of obstacles including difficult method actor Mike Shiner (Norton), his complicated relationship with his former-addict daughter-cum-PA Sam (Stone), a poisonous theatre critic (Duncan) and, most crucially, his own ego and what he feels is the right thing to do…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Acclaimed director Alejandro González Iñárritu leads a highly-talented ensemble cast, led by a career-best performance by Michael Keaton, through the insane and satirical nature of Birdman, or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) – to give its full title – and comes out with one of the most anticipated films of awards season as a result.
