• Cregger and co-writer Shay Hatten (who also co-wrote the last few John Wick movies) craft an original story that takes heavy inspiration from the series lore
• Austin Abrams, who previously worked with Cregger on Weapons, is a formidable lead who finds himself in a desperate race against time within a terrifying world of monsters
• The pacing and overall action has been likened to Mad Max: Fury Road, which suggests that we are in store for an extremely breathless experience on a similar level to that action masterpiece
• Hopefully this will turn the tide for the franchise’s film series, after the popular but critically panned Milla Jovovich-fronted movies and a failed 2021 reboot by director Johannes Roberts

• Aardman’s delightfully mischievous sheep and his flock are back for an all-new spooky adventure for the whole family
• This time, Shaun and friends are getting themselves into a Halloween-themed spot of bother, which involves a mysterious new creature that’s unlike anything they’ve encountered before
• Expect plenty of physical slapstick and hilarious sight gags, all told without proper dialogue and set to the animation studio’s ever-impressive Claymation style
• It also marks the 50th anniversary of Aardman, as well as the culmination of a recent string of re-releases from the studio’s expansive archive
• With this being the second major film of 2026 to star a lovable flock of sheep (after The Sheep Detectives), you’d have to be baa-king mad to miss out on the fun that this movie also contains!

• With the kids back in school, this pitch-black satire exposes the fundamental failings of the education system in a highly entertaining manner
• Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan is characteristically excellent as the put-upon teacher who makes a disturbing decision that ironically does more good than harm
• Some shocking moments of violence and darkly funny psychological warfare are expertly delivered by Swedish director Jonatan Etzler, who makes his English-language debut with this film
• You’ll be further taken aback by the equally if not more alarming reactions of those who treat the situation as though it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to them
• It truly is the Dr Strangelove of school-set satires, as it holds a mirror up to our society while also allowing the viewer to point and laugh at it all

• Not since the Oscar-winning Amour have the devastating trials and tribulations of old age been depicted in such an eye-opening and emotionally intelligent manner
• Filmmaker Lance Hammer, who marks his first feature in almost twenty years, presents a deeply concerning morality tale where there are no easy answers, and shocking consequences that may tear an entire family apart
• It features some stellar performances by the likes of Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche, as well as acting veterans Tom Courtenay and Anna Calder-Marshall as the elderly couple at the centre of the scenario
• The film competed for the Golden Bear at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, and came away with not just the Silver Bear Jury Prize (the third-highest accolade of the festival) but also the award for Best Supporting Performance, which was shared between Courtenay and Calder-Marshall

• One of Studio Ghibli’s most overlooked anime classics is coming to IMAX screens for the very first time, as part of a new distribution deal with GKIDS
• Hayao Miyazaki provided the screenplay for director Yoshifumi Kondō’s adaptation of the popular manga Mimi o Sumaseba, and it’s filled with the animation legend’s fantastical charm and grounded whimsy
• Sadly, it would turn out to be Kondō’s only film as director before his death in 1998, after previously serving as an animator on other Ghibli films like Kiki’s Delivery Service and Porco Rosso (because of which, he was initially seen as Miyazaki’s successor)
• Its legacy among Ghibli fans remains strong to this day, with the film even inspiring a spin-off film The Cat Returns which debuted to strong acclaim in 2002
