PLOT: In 2006, television journalist Chris Hansen (Pattinson) leads a provocative new show called To Catch a Predator, in which he and his team – including producer Andie Bender (Wever) and young actor Dan Plumb (Gisondo) – entrap and expose online paedophiles, which soars in the ratings and inspires Hansen to push the envelope even further…

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • The fascinating story of To Catch a Predator, recently brought to the big screen in the form of the acclaimed documentary Predators, is transformed into a compelling and hugely entertaining crime thriller
  • Robert Pattinson is at the top of his game as Chris Hansen, the show’s notorious host whose pursuit of infamy here leads to some shocking developments
  • The film focuses on the morbid fascination that turned the show into an international sensation, from both the viewers and the journalists who risked their own integrity in the search for strong ratings
  • It’s the feature directorial debut of documentarian Lance Oppenheim, who’s also working with distributor A24 and co-director Nathan Fielder on the much-buzzed doc You Can See Everything (due out in the UK next month!)
  • For anyone who remembers the days when To Catch a Predator was all that anyone could talk about, this will be both a fine trip down memory lane as well as a scuzzy and psychologically intimidating mood piece

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • This delightfully quirky adult-centric fairy tale puts a whole new meaning to the phrase “happily ever after”
  • Oscar-winner Olivia Colman both produces and leads an eclectic ensemble cast that also includes Peter Dinklage, Elizabeth Debicki, and Alexander Skarsgård as a love interest made out of the titular material
  • Filmmakers Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, on their second film together after their 2020 debut Save Yourselves!, adapt Ursula Wills’ short story The Wicker Husband into a raunchy and heartfelt comedic caper
  • The trailer for the film caught everyone’s attention with its unusual premise and intricate make-up effects, which may well lead to it becoming a cult favourite among audiences
  • It’s got laughs and love and a bit of rumpy-pumpy in between for viewers everywhere to enjoy, enough to possible inspire more lucid fantasies about literally crafting our soulmates

Wicker is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

I Love Boosters (dir. Boots Riley)

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • Nearly ten years after his directorial debut Sorry to Bother You, rapper-turned-filmmaker Boots Riley returns to the big screen with a colourful and staunchly anti-capitalist satire
  • Riley has assembled a stacked ensemble cast that’s led by the holy trinity of Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie and Taylour Paige, with supporting turns from Will Poulter, Sorry to Bother You star LaKeith Stanfield, and Oscar-nominee Demi Moore
  • The film is full of Riley’s signature idiosyncratic and absurdist style, with bonkers plot developments and unpredictable genre shifts galore
  • At its core is a fundamental attack against our consumerist society, as well as the unfair economic system that continuously benefits the wealthy while leaving nothing for the destitute classes
  • If you’re up for a ripe and extremely topical satire filled with laughs and smart commentary, then you’ll love this wacky cinematic outing!

I Love Boosters is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

Nightborn (dir. Hanna Bergholm)

CAST: Seidi Haarla, Rupert Grint, Pamela Tola, Pirkko Saisio, Rebecca Lacey, John Thomson

CREW: Hanna Bergholm (director, writer), Ilja Rautsi (writer), Daniel Kuitunen and Noémie Devide (producers), Eicca Toppinen (composer), Pietari Peltola (cinematographer), Jussi Rautaniemi (editor)

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • After her eye-catching debut feature Hatching, Finnish filmmaker Hanna Bergholm’s second film is another ambitious stab at fantastical horror
  • While less overtly satirical than her previous movie, Bergholm still works wonders with the strange environments wherein plenty of out-there stuff occurs
  • Finnish actor Seidi Haarla, formerly of the acclaimed European drama Compartment No. 6, stars opposite former Ron Weasley himself, Rupert Grint
  • It tackles heavy themes of early parenthood and postpartum anxiety which form a wild and unpredictable narrative that will captivate you from beginning to end
  • The film contains plenty of chilling material to unsettle even the most content of new parents, or possibly even put off anyone hoping to start a family

Nightborn is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

Animol (dir. Ashley Walters)

CAST: Tut Nyuot, Vladyslav Baliuk, Sekou Diaby, Stephen Graham, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Ryan Dean

PLOT: After arriving at a juvenile detention centre, young inmate Troy (Nyuot) finds himself surrounded by threats and challenges…

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • Rapper-turned-actor Ashley Walters makes his directorial debut with a harrowing look at life behind bars in a British juvenile prison
  • Fresh from his scene-stealing supporting turn in last year’s The Long Walk, Tut Nyuot is promoted to lead performer as the young and vulnerable prisoner at its centre
  • Also among the cast is an equally captivating Vladyslav Baliuk as Nyuot’s volatile cellmate, as well as Walters’ Adolescence co-star Stephen Graham as a welfare officer
  • The film won the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Film at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, where it debuted to widespread acclaim
  • It forms a neat companion piece to Wasteman from earlier this year, which similarly dealt with bleak prison life, but this one has plenty of its own merits to stand out on its own

Animol is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

PLOT: Ski mountaineers Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson fall in love as they attempt to fulfil their dream of climbing and skiing down the North Face of Mount Everest…

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • The Oscar-winning filmmakers behind Free Solo turn their attention to an all-new kind of death-defying sport, and the tender love story that has come from it
  • Filmmakers Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi follow professional ski mountaineers Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson as their adorations for both each other and their profession illuminate the big screen
  • Some astonishing cinematography captures the central subjects’ perilous plight as they ascend and descend some of the world’s most terrifying mountain peaks
  • In between are raw moments where the couple develop their unique relationship to become among the most daring romantic partners in human history
  • It’s an inspiring story of love and determination that will encourage you to take enormous leaps in life, all in the name of love

Everest: The Other Side is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

Bad Day at the Office (dir. Chee Keong Cheung)

CAST: John Hannah, Radha Mitchell, Tamer Hassan, Lana Parrilla, Roxanne McKee, Tim Fellingham, Branko Tomović, Lucy Geach

CREW: Chee Keong Cheung (director, writer, producer), Oliver Morran (writer), Ioanna Karavela and Andreas Roald (producers), Stuart Hancock (composer), Martyna Knitter and Lorenzo Levrini (cinematographers), Alistair Cave and Nathan Coetzee (editors)

PLOT: Karl (Hannah) wakes up in a hotel room with no memory and a dead body in the bathroom, igniting a perilous journey through a world where everyone wants to kill him…

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • On the surface, this seems like any other action flick – except for the fact that it’s shot entirely from a first-person perspective!
  • Filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung takes a page from the book of Hardcore Henry by creating a high-octane POV thriller with endless GoPro action that immerses you into this insanely violent world
  • The cast includes John Hannah of the Mummy franchise, as well as Once Upon a Time veteran Lana Parrilla and Australian A-lister Radha Mitchell
  • It is wild and relentless in its action as the camera constantly moves along with our protagonist, which you’ll either be completely sucked into or feel incredibly queasy afterwards!
  • Either way, it’s a unique approach to the genre that, if done properly, could revolutionise action filmmaking forever!

Bad Day at the Office is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

In the Shadows (dir. Anthony Wonke)

CAST: Jasmine Jobson, Finn Cole, Maureen Lavoyer, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, Moe Hashim, Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness, Lorraine Tai

PLOT: Ramla Ali (Jobson), a Somali refugee residing in London, defies the wishes of her family by secretly pursuing a career in boxing…

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • The story of Britain’s first-ever Muslim female boxer forms the inspiring basis for this sports biopic that packs a real punch
  • Jasmine Jobson, whom viewers will recognise from Mobland and Andrea Arnold’s Bird, delivers a knockout performance as Ramla Ali, the Somalia-born athlete who achieved extraordinary things in her career
  • In addition to Ali’s most notable achievements, the film also tackles universal themes of family, tradition, faith and self-reliance that anyone can relate to
  • The boxing scenes are presented with such brute force that really emphasises the gritty and violent nature of the sport
  • It will please anyone looking for the next Rocky to be inspired by, as it also tells the powerful underdog story of someone willing to risk everything to go the distance

In the Shadows is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

PLOT: Arnie (Collins) and Barney (Dundas) are two bumbling ant soldiers who set out to find a new water supply and save their insect metropolis from succumbing to a severe drought…

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • Young fans of Maya the Bee will instantly recognise the titular duo who have been granted their own action-packed spin-off!
  • The hilariously inept ant soldiers set off on a perilous animated adventure that sees them become the heroes instead of the comic relief for a change
  • Along the way, they encounter plenty of exciting new allies and dangerous new enemies, from crafty caterpillar mob bosses to hypnotic mosquitoes
  • The film’s young audience can take away some valuable lessons about finding the courage to do the right thing, while also laughing themselves silly at all the fast-paced slapstick
  • It’s a nice film to round out the kids’ half-term break, while also giving their tired parents a bit of a break from looking after their offspring for a little while!

Arnie & Barney is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

PLOT: Christian (Goddard) is an actor who is hired for a stage revival of an acclaimed musical called City of Masks, but soon he becomes compelled by Eve (Jiang), the musical’s gifted yet disfigured composer whose presence haunts the theatre…

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • The classic tale of The Phantom of the Opera is given a contemporary new twist in this daring and provocative gothic thriller
  • Amanda Jiang assumes the Phantom role as the film, from director Andrea M. Catinella, adopts a female perspective that makes the story feel so much more tragic
  • It tackles the novel’s original themes of identity, obsession and performance with unexpected twists that transport the story into a modern era
  • There is a distinct whiff of the supernatural as the wider issues become apparent, revealing certain figures to be far more controlling and vindictive than we first assumed them to be
  • You’ll be enchanted by the emotional beauty on display in a film that proves once and for all how timeless this particular story is

City of Masks is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

  • Filmmakers Daniel Geller and Dayna Goldfine, who previously tackled the late Leonard Cohen in the documentary Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song, bring the same amount of compassion and soul to their study of Asher
  • It’s a fascinating look at the man responsible for some of the last century’s finest acts, and how he continues to be such an inspiration to this day

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • One of the most controversial films ever made is given an all-new 4K restoration in its original, unaltered form in time for its 45th anniversary
  • The film, which saw filmmaker Ken Russell adapt the 1960 play of the same name as well as the non-fiction book The Devils of Loudun, contained violent and sexual content so explicit that it was famously banned in several countries, and heavily edited in others
  • Its provocative themes of sexual repression and religious corruption did not sit well with critics at the time, but it has since become known as a fascinating display of filmmaking excess that has never been truly replicated
  • In addition to being the first major theatrical re-release of the film’s director’s cut after decades of being kept out of circulation, it also marks the first major outing for Warner Bros. Clockwork, a new specialty independent film label focused on championing low-budget, filmmaker-centric projects
  • Don’t miss your chance to experience one of the most shocking yet awe-inspiring works of cinematic art in film history, in the way that it was always meant to be experienced

The Devils is showing in cinemas from Friday 30 October 2026

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • Guillermo del Toro’s beautiful dark fantasy finds its way back onto the big screen with a 4K restoration for its 20th anniversary
  • For the first time, the film will also be available to watch in premium 3D – and even better, del Toro has profoundly declared that zero AI was involved in the conversion process!
  • His is a film that combines intricate fairy-tale storytelling with sinister real-world themes of fascism and the loss of innocence, as brilliantly portrayed by actors Ivana Baquero and Sergi López (recently seen in Sirāt)
  • The film received instant critical and audience acclaim, won numerous awards including three Oscars, and even earned the distinction of having the longest standing ovation in the history of the Cannes Film Festival (22 minutes, if you’re curious)
  • Today, it remains a spellbinding flex of imagination that ranks among not just the auteur’s finest work, but one of the best fantasy films ever made

Pan’s Labyrinth is showing in cinemas Friday 30 October 2026

FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

  • The early-2000s cult favourite is given an all-new chance to shine on the big screen as it celebrates its 25th anniversary
  • Writer-director Richard Kelly received acclaim for his mind-bending ideas and surrealist take on the well-worn teen drama, while it proved to be a major breakout role for lead actor Jake Gyllenhaal
  • The film wasn’t a box office success in the US, largely due to lack of advertisement for its release shortly after the events of 9/11, but it regained renewed interest after UK critics and audiences responded favourably, to where its sombre piano cover of Tears for Fears’ song “Mad World” topped the local charts and even became the Christmas No. 1 of 2003!
  • It has inspired a dedicated legion of fans who have been quick to analyse its most puzzling storytelling secrets, and even a direct-to-video sequel that Kelly had zero involvement in
  • Regarded as highly influential on the teen and sci-fi thriller genres, Donnie Darko remains a compelling and wholly unique film that everyone should experience at least once in their lives
