WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

In 1946, Rachael Morgan (Knightley) arrives in post-war Germany to reunite with her husband Lewis (Clarke), a British colonel tasked with rebuilding the shattered city of Hamburg. However, she is surprised to learn that the grand house where she and Lewis will be staying will also have its previous owners, German widower Stefan (Skarsgård) and his troubled daughter Freda (Thiemann), also on the premises, and that she is slowly become attracted to this handsome stranger…

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED?

Keira Knightley is as elegant as ever in this intimate period drama which sees her pining for Alexander Skarsgård – I mean, who wouldn’t? – in post-war Germany.
