To stop Amelia, Gemma is forced to give the original M3GAN a new body with advanced upgrades that can potentially save the day…

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • Everyone’s favourite sinister AI robot M3GAN is back for more unhinged entertainment… but this time, she’s the hero?!

    • Expect more fun moments with M3GAN as she snarks her way through a delightfully ridiculous plot and against a villain who’s arguably deadlier than the titular bot herself
    • With plenty of campy comedy and slick horror, M3GAN 2.0 is an upgrade of the first movie in every possible way

M3GAN 2.0 is showing in cinemas from Friday 27 June 2025

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • The three least likely drug dealers in existence form a surprisingly touching family unit in this laugh-out-loud British comedy

    • Actors Ethaniel Davy, Amelie Davies and Graham Fellows share plenty of bouncy chemistry as their weed operation takes a number of surprising turns
    • There are more than a few touches of Charlotte Regan’s Scrapper and even the works of Paul Thomas Anderson in the ways that these characters form an imperfect bond through the most unexpected of circumstances
    • With hilarious banter and some intense criminal activity, it’s a neat British gem that will certainly give audiences a little bit of everything

Chicken Town is showing in cinemas from Friday 27 June 2025

    • It has proved to be a hugely popular crowd-pleaser in Australia, where it set the box office alight with several sold-out showings
    • You may well be inspired to undertake your own trek across the world – though hopefully it won’t take quite as long as this film took to make!

The Road to Patagonia is showing in cinemas from Friday 27 June 2025

Sudan, Remember Us (dir. Hind Meddeb)

PLOT: In Sudan, a group of young activists celebrate the 2019 overthrowing of the country’s long-time dictator Omar al-Bashir, only to be caught up in the ensuing military crackdown and eventual civil war…

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • This timely documentary focuses on the political shuffling of a country dealing with rampant instability
    • It is the latest in filmmaker Hind Meddeb’s unofficial series of documenting activism in several countries, some of which have included Tunisia and even the Stalingrad district of Paris
    • Meddeb captures the plight of several protestors and activists in Sudan that go through a rollercoaster of emotions as their country changes for both better and worse
    • It stood out at last year’s Venice and Toronto film festivals, where it received praise for bringing to light a regime that isn’t as widely documented in the media
    • As you witness the often-troubling ordeals that Sudanese residents have been through, you’ll be reminded of the hard work that still needs to be done all over the world to achieve political and social balance

Sudan, Remember Us is showing in cinemas from Friday 27 June 2025

Love & Trouble (dir. Amy Hardie)

CAST: Kenny Watson, Kerry Watson, Harris Watson, Alfie Watson, James Tripp, Alan Johnson, Malcolm Williams

PLOT: After getting married, young couple Kenny and Kerry Watson discover some alarming secrets about each other that threaten to derail their relationship…

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • Love conquers all in this heartfelt documentary showing the progression and introspection of a couple across a ten-year period
    • Filmmaker Amy Hardie captures nearly every intimate detail in the lives of Kenny and Kerry Watson, from their happy wedding to the birth of their child Harris and beyond
    • Hardie provides the viewer with a window into some of the couple’s most private moments, including some intensive therapy sessions getting to the core of Kenny’s PTSD from his time in the Army
    • As the couple grow older together, it’s clear that their adoration for one another is strong enough to weather any storm, making it just as romantic – maybe even more so – than most narrative romances
    • It’s a film for anyone who loves their significant other no matter what demons or anxieties they may be going through

Love & Trouble is showing in cinemas from Friday 27 June 2025

What’s Showing At Home This Week?

CREW: Jason Buxton (director, writer, producer), Paul Barkin, Jason Levangie, Susan Mullen and Marc Tetreault (producers), Stephen McKeon (composer), Guy Godfree (cinematographer), Jorge Weisz (editor)

PLOT: Josh (Foster), a loving but troubled family man, becomes growingly obsessed with saving the lives of car accident victims that often crash just outside his house…

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • This alarming but fascinating psychological thriller explores the deeply worrying need within us all to fill the role of the hero in a life-or-death situation
    • Ben Foster delivers one of his best performances to date as the deeply flawed protagonist whose actions lead to severe personal and possibly even fatal consequences to himself and those around him
    • It is an adaptation of Russell Wangersky’s short story of the same name, with filmmaker Jason Buxton adding plenty of extra layers to the already unhinged tale
    • Filmed in beautiful Nova Scotia, the Canadian production makes solid use of the isolated area through some striking cinematography that adds a sinister edge to the material
    • Its unpredictable beats are perfectly matched with light touches of dark comedy, making this thriller an entertaining ride you’ll want to wear your seatbelt for

Sharp Corner is streaming exclusively on Sky Cinema from Saturday 28 June 2025

    Rust (dir. Joel Souza)

CAST: Alec Baldwin, Patrick Scott McDermott, Travis Fimmel, Frances Fisher, Jake Busey, Josh Hopkins, Devon Werkheiser

As the two make a perilous journey to Mexico, they are pursued by U.S. Marshal Wood Helm (Hopkins) and ruthless bounty hunter Preacher (Fimmel)…

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • Don’t miss your chance to finally see the Western thriller that’s caught the world’s attention, albeit for all the wrong reasons
    • Initial production on the film was halted in 2021 following a tragic on-set accident that saw cinematographer Halyna Hutchins be shot and killed by a firearm operated by the film’s star and producer Alec Baldwin
    • Filming finally started up again over a year later, with Halyna’s widow Matthew Hutchins brought on as an executive producer to oversee the completion of his wife’s final work
    • Though the tragedy forms a giant part of the film’s reputation, it still works as a sprawling Western with plenty of intense gunfights and tender character dynamics
    • It’s a film that deserves to be seen, regardless of its utterly devastating background

Rust is available to rent/buy on digital platforms from Monday 23 June 2025

What’s Returning to Cinemas This Week?

    Clueless (dir. Amy Heckerling)

PLOT: Cher Horowitz (Silverstone), a popular but superficial high school student, seeks to user her keen negotiating skills to commit good deeds such as playing matchmaker for her teachers, and helping socially awkward new arrival Tai Frasier (Murphy) achieve popularity, all while dealing with her own issues such as her growing attraction to former step-brother Josh (Rudd)…

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • The beloved teen classic, loosely based on Jane Austen’s timeless romance Emma, returns to the big screen in celebration of its 30th anniversary
    • Alicia Silverstone became an overnight movie star for her role as Cher, the vapid but good-natured teen who sets out to do some good in her world
    • Writer-director Amy Heckerling closely studied 90s teen slang to create an accurate representation of the culture of the time, as well as her own phrases which have become part of the wider vocabulary
    • Its cult status was confirmed by the strong critical and commercial success of the film, which has also spawned a series of spin-off books, a recently-unveiled stage musical, and an announced TV follow-up with Silverstone reprising her iconic role
    • Don’t miss your chance to see why Clueless has become known as one of the finest teen movies ever made, in the one place that it was always meant to be seen

Clueless is showing in cinemas from Friday 27 June 2025

    Ran (dir. Akira Kurosawa)

PLOT: In Medieval Japan, powerful warlord Hidetora Ichimonji (Nakadai) decides to retire and split his kingdom evenly among his sons Taro (Terao), Jiro (Nezu) and Saburo (Ryu), only for the brothers to become corrupted by their newfound power, igniting a full-scale war…

    FIVE REASONS TO BE EXCITED:

    • The final epic of Japanese filmmaking titan Akira Kurosawa returns to cinemas for its 40th anniversary
    • Its plot is derived from the classic Shakespeare play King Lear, though it also takes inspiration from the far-reaching legends of Japanese war lord Mōri Motonari
    • Kurosawa gained his only career Oscar nomination for directing this film (he was later awarded an Honorary Oscar), and it came away with the Costume Design award
    • With a budget of roughly $12 million USD, it was the most expensive Japanese production at the time, and that money is clearly on the screen in magnificently staged battle sequences that have been hailed as some of the finest in cinema history
    • You’re in for a cinematic treat as the epic nature of Kurosawa’s filmmaking remains timeless after all these years
